Quad has an exciting opportunity for a Packaging Design Production Artist to work on-site with one of our clients in Chesapeake, VA. The Packaging Design Production Artist is responsible for creating and developing package designs, adaptations, guidelines and templates for Seasonal packaging, for a variety of packaging configurations.
The Packaging Design Production Artist will work with the Packaging Manager and other team members and suppliers to develop packaging guides and templates and produce print ready digital files based upon brand guidelines and specs, ensuring quality and consistency. 
This role is at the heart of seasonal packaging execution and is required to be highly organized and play an active role in problem solving for maximum brand impact across SKUs and execution of design work.

Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Follow client directions to create layouts
  • Read and follow internal markup and customer instructions
  • Perform specific corrections as needed, determined by evaluation of provided copy and/or soft proof evaluation
  • General knowledge of packaging and/or retail; following basic package design and production principles, aesthetic design concepts, branding, typography, color theory, die schematics and printer specs.
  • Interpret job information as directed by the Packaging Manager, Merchant or supplier and the ability to effectively communicate to all stakeholders 
  • General knowledge of the workflows and procedures for the assigned area
  • Other job related duties as assigned
  • Two years of industry experience with advanced skills in Adobe Creative Cloud software, specifically, Illustrator and Photo Shop
  • Knowledge of standard printing procedures, production workflow and preflight practices
  • Ability to check, verify and sight proof completed work for errors to ensure compliance with job specifications
  • Package design experience a plus
  • Understanding of the challenges of the retail environment and how products compete on a shelf
  • Quick grasp of marketing strategies, project parameters, brand standards, legal mandates and schematics.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision
  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external partners
  • Ability to adjust to constant changes and complete work in a timely manner
  • Portfolio samples required
