Milwaukee Magazine's sales and marketing department is looking for an energetic and hard-working student at our downtown location. This is an excellent opportunity for a student to gain professional experience.

The internship requires 15 to 20 unpaid hours per week. Internships last for one semester or summer and are for school credit. Interns should be able to work both independently and collaboratively. Candidates must be self-motivated and show initiative as well as take direction and accept constructive criticism. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and problem solve a plus. The Sales & Marketing intern will learn to perform day-to-day duties that include interacting with a variety of businesses, advertising agencies, magazine subscribers and Milwaukee Magazine staff. Specific responsibilities will include developing and executing marketing efforts for subscriber acquisition and retention as well as ad sales promotions. Additional responsibilities include data entry and analysis, assistance during events and other promotional efforts, developing prospect lists and client proposals, assisting sales reps with client correspondence and other administrative duties. An interest in data and trend analysis is a plus.

Top candidates for this internship will have experience in marketing (print, web, social media), excellent customer service skills, experience in a high volume, rapidly changing environment and proven reliability and flexibility. Interns must be currently attending a four-year degree program in Business, Marketing, Journalism or related communications field and must be able to take this internship for credit. Must be proficient with the following programs: Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Internet Explorer. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills. Organizational skills are essential.
