GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB
Under the supervision of the Wellness Program Administrator, and directly working with a Fitness Coordinator, the Fitness Instructor will provide group fitness instruction, monitor, and educate participants on fitness and safety, and maintain a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for class participants.
Yoga classes are taught 1 day a week for approximately 45 min between the times of 11a-1p. Based on the interest of the attendees, there is potential for additional classes.
Teaches scheduled classes, beginning and ending on time; provides adequate warm-up, exercises, stretching and cool down.
Instructs participants on effective workout methods; explains proper techniques, demonstrates exercises, identifies different muscle groups and teaches appropriate methods to strengthen specific muscles.
Prepares appropriate equipment and music for each class.
Assists participants, answers questions and maintains a positive exercise experience for class participants.
Keeps Fitness staff informed of customer and facility needs.
- Performs choreography and music skills.
Ability to be professional and motivate class participants.
Manages all programs in accordance with QuadMed’s operational, quality, safety, and service standards.
Appropriate education and/or experience may be substituted on an equivalent basis
High school diploma or equivalent required
Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science or directly related field preferred
- Experience: 1 year required, 2-3 years preferred
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Current Personal Trainer Certification from ACSM/NSCA/ACE or other nationally accredited organization required preferred (required if no group fitness instructor certification)
Current Group Fitness Instructor Certification from a nationally accredited organization preferred (required if no personal trainer certification)
Current CPR/AED & First Aid Certified required
