PRN Registered Nurse – Occupational Health

This position will be providing day-to-day clinical and operational activities for Occupational Health Services. This will be accomplished by evaluating, treating, and educating patients in an occupational clinic setting. Performs testing, and performs administrative procedures within their scope and licensure of expertise, protocols, and available equipment.


  • Provides prompt, appropriate clinical care to all employees in conformance with company policies, clinical protocols, state regulations and ethical standards. This includes worksite injury/illness triage, treatment coordination with the client, and referral to specialists as necessary.
  • Performs other duties to include recording of vital signs, audiograms, vision testing, urine collection, spirometry, respirator fit testing, injections and basic first aid.
  • Provides employees with protocols and best practices for EHS within the workplace.
  • Provides employees with educational materials (handouts) on how to prevent injuries in the workplace, stop the spread of COVID, preventative measures, etc.
  • Educates patients on wellness, prevention and early detection by providing materials and resources to the patients and families.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all patient and organization information and follows federal and state regulations and organization policies regarding protection of patient information.
  • Effectively communicates with patients through technology to include email, video, telephonic, and text while complying with QuadMed policy and practices.
  • Administers medications/immunizations skillfully and correctly; performs therapeutic treatments and other health screenings as required by the provider.
  • Acknowledges patient’s rights on confidentiality issues, maintains patient confidentiality at all times, and follows HIPAA guidelines and regulations.
  • Completes all documentation accurately, timely and efficiently for regulatory compliance.  Demonstrates skills necessary for proper documentation in the Electronic Medical Record. Participate in quality improvement, continuing education, and other patient care programs established by the health center requirements for QuadMed and/or assigned client groups.


Appropriate education and/or experience may be substituted on an equivalent basis


  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program, BSN preferred


  • Occupational health experience preferred

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: 

  • Current and valid license in the state of the position or compact state license
  • CPR or BLS certification within 60 days of hire

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 

  • Strong nursing and interpersonal skills, especially in working with diverse populations
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) skills
  • Strong organizational skills, and have the ability to set priorities and work independently.
  • Able to manage the day to day operations of the clinic with the guidance of the leader
  • Skilled in assessment, evaluation, nursing diagnosis, and treatment planning
  • Ability to apply critical thinking skills and keen attention to detail
  • Strong skills in utilizing technology
  • Proven ability to work successfully with diverse populations and demonstrated commitment to promote and enhance diversity and inclusion

Physical Demands

  • Manual Dexterity: Work requires definite skilled and accurate physical operations requiring some closely coordinated performance  
  • Physical Effort: Work requires handling lightweight materials or equipment with no special speed or   exertion  
  • Working Conditions: Ordinary office, health center working conditions  
  • Hazards: Negligible. Little or no exposure to hazards
