The Principal Technical Architect encompasses all duties of a Senior Software Engineer II at a more advanced level.  Higher emotional intelligence and social maturity, is respected by colleagues, I/T leadership, and the business as a technical leader.  Has a greater focus on departmental vs. team or individual accomplishments.  The Principal Technical Architect helps the department and company grow in some meaningful way.  She/he is great at coaching others and supporting their ideas.   

Their primary focus is on delivering business value to the company.  The Principal Technical Architect has expert understanding of business processes, helps establishes agile best practices within the department, partners with team leaders to help teams be successful.  Sets the technical direction for the department.  She/he has proven experience partnering with business to decompose large problems to a minimum viable product.   

The Principal Technical Architect incorporates software engineering, security, and compliance best practices across the department.   

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Responsible for gaining an advanced understanding of Quad IT's general business operations and processes pertinent to the department or entire company
  • Effective communication with Exec leadership throughout the corporation
  • Actively presenting across department

    • Ensure solutions/products meet ROI and achieve strategic outcomes
    • Accountable across the company
  • CI/Innovation
    • Deep understanding of industry and company-wide business processes.
    • Ability to facilitate an RIE (Rapid Improvement Event) for the department
    • Works across the department to improve domain and team performance through CI and agile concepts and approaches
  • Customer Focus
    • Collaborate with business leadership to define business strategy
    • Technical Leader for entire company
  • Solutioning
    • Able to define and plan a vision and portfolio of solutions based on business and technology capabilities that utilize industry best practices and meet client needs 
    • Able to collaborate and influence with entire Department with grooming Department-scale solutions
    • Able to collaborate on breaking down Department-sized solutions into Feature slices
    • Has a deeper understanding of Department-related technologies and business workflows
    • Could solution in multiple Domains with minimal ramp-up
    • Can create a value stream sized solution from "a blank sheet of paper"

    • Establishes strong partnerships with Senior IT and business leadership
    • Accepts and provides feedback to all levels of leadership

    • Enterprise Architecture, apply known best patterns to solutions

    • Understands and knows how to leverage multiple platforms in solutions

    • Takes overall ownership in the standards and quality of value being delivered by the team and department

JOB REQUIREMENTS 
Appropriate education and/or experience may be substituted on an equivalent basis 

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 10 years of Software Development or equivalent experience

 Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to help identify client issues and resources needed to solve problems
  • Analytical thinking skills to evaluate analyses for communication to internal and external customers
  • Able to define and plan a vision and portfolio of solutions based on business and technology capabilities that utilize industry best practices and meet client needs 
  • Able to collaborate and influence with entire Department with grooming Department-scale solutions
