GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB
The Employee Champion is responsible for the success of production by focusing on employee supervision through engagement, retention, recognition and safety of the employees working in both Press and Finishing on a particular shift.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide face-to-face daily supervision, coaching, motivation while on the production floor.
- Lead efforts of the shift to meet or exceed business objectives through continual employee interaction.
- Promote teamwork and cooperation among the crew, between departments, and across shifts.
- Maintain accurate and timely employee records in accordance with corporate policy and business practices including engagement initiatives, safety standards, performance expectations, timesheet approvals and attendance monitoring.
- Assist Department/Manufacturing Manager in establishing and maintaining the scheduling of vacation and coordinating required overtime to meet established deadlines.
- Responsible for identifying and coordinating training and ongoing development needs of the crew through the 0-60 and ACT programs.
- Collaborate with Department Heads/Production Manager to conduct regular performance appraisals on all personnel, providing feedback on their performance.
- Attain the shift retention metrics as determined by senior leadership.
- Adjust day-to-day labor movement in MLS at shift change as needed.
- Authority to oversee hiring and exiting employees on shift.
- Model and enforce the safe operation of all equipment and ensure a safe and clean working environment.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Appropriate education and/or experience may be substituted on an equivalent basis
Education: People Leading People cohort attendance preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Solid working knowledge of the production process.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be self-motivated to lead, model and direct crew efforts to maintain schedule and deadlines.
- Must be able to read and follow directions and able to manage multiple tasks/projects.
- Must possess good interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively in both written and oral form.
- Must be prompt and reliable and able to work as required.
- Proven ability to organize, and manage people effectively.
- Previous supervisory and technical experience preferred.
