Apply Job ID 26223 Date posted Nov. 06, 2023 Location West Allis, Wisconsin

Milwaukee Magazine, the region’s most-read monthly publication and leading lifestyle brand, offers the prestige of print plus the immediacy of digital through milwaukeemag.com, our fast-growing website. For almost 40 years, Milwaukee Magazine’s mission has remained the same: to deliver award-winning journalism that celebrates our city and to keep our readers informed about where to eat, shop, explore and simply have fun.

Milwaukee Magazine has Social Media Internship positions available for Spring 2024!

Milwaukeemag.com is looking for a social media intern. Our website publishes fun, engaging and relevant stories that span news, longform features, listicles, food guides and pretty much everything Milwaukee. Social media interns will be tasked with promoting stories on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, expanding our social media presence, engaging with readers across channels and working with our editors to develop new, innovative ways to grow our audience and maximize our brand.

We take pride when former interns, having honed and expanded their skill set here, move on to full-time positions at newspapers, magazines or other communication jobs. In many cases, they’ve returned to our offices for full-time jobs or become regular freelance contributors.

Please submit a cover letter along with your resume explaining what sets you apart from the field, along with three writing clips or social media samples. Send pieces that display your style and versatility.
Applications will be accepted until December 10th and finalists will be contacted for an interview. No phone calls please.
Qualifications
Internships last for one semester or summer and will be a hybrid of onsite and remote work. The internships require 15 to 20 unpaid hours a week – you can set your own schedule. The internship must be taken for college credit.  You should have experience with Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. You’ll be writing plenty of posts and engaging directly with our audience, so you’ll need to be prepared to write engaging social media hooks, and you’ll definitely need to be enthusiastic about Milwaukee and our magazine. Video and photography experience is a definite plus.
The part-time unpaid position carries a college credit requirement, so applicants MUST be able to receive college course credit for the internship.
