Bindery Mechanic Specialist -
Quad, a global leader in the commercial printing and direct marketing industry is seeking Bindery Specialists to work in our rapidly expanding East Coast Supercenter in Westampton, NJ. The position is for night shift.
In this position you will assist in the creation of various well known Magazines/Catalogs/Direct Mail pieces and other related products. Quad prides itself on having a “grow from within” philosophy where employees are provided the opportunity to learn in their roles and grow within the company.
Full-time position is available on the following shift:
12 hour shifts 7 pm - 7 am 4 or 3 day/night work weeks
C shift - Rotating between front half of the week to back half of the week every 6-weeks. Every other Sunday as needed. 7pm - 7am
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Specialist will work closely with machine operators and production supervisors and assist in the startup, running and troubleshooting of production folding, inserting, stitching, and cutting machines.
- Perform minor repairs and preventative maintenance work on the production equipment in the plant (i.e. bindery, inserters and folders).
- Set up machines, or assist operators in set up, and troubleshooting operator problems. Operate machines when needed.
- Comply with all quality, safety rules and regulations as well as Standard Operating Procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications:
- Requires knowledge of standard set ups, adjustments and operating characteristics of production folding, inserting, stitching, and cutting equipment and skill to perform standard adjustments and operate the equipment.
- Ability to set up, operate, and perform basic adjustments to the equipment according to the individual job requirements, operating characteristics, and capabilities of the equipment. Typically, the adjustments performed at this level are routine and the need for such adjustments are readily apparent.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand long hours and use hands and wrists continuously in controlled movement.
- Able to bend and lift 10-15 pounds continuously, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 70 pounds, standing long periods of time of up to 12 hours, perform repetitious tasks in a fast-paced atmosphere and use vision in order to identify defects with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Able to work overtime as needed based on the workload.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and basic computer skills are required.
- Good verbal and written comprehension, the ability to thrive in a team environment, and work independently.
- Prior printing industry experience or manufacturing experience (such as laborer, assembly, or distribution) required, experience in Direct Mail preferred.
