55 years in, Quad keeps creating its future

Quad’s 55-year journey reflects a culture of growth, adaptability and opportunity, shaped by people who help create the future.

Quad employees bonding in the workplace

A company does not make it 55 years by standing still

Since 1971, Quad has worked through industry shifts, technology changes, new client needs and new ways of doing business. The company began as a commercial printer, and while those manufacturing roots remain today, it has evolved into so much more. Today, Quad is a full-service marketing experience company with capabilities across creative, production and media— all powered by intelligence, such as research data services, and tech.

That evolution says a lot about Quad. It also says a lot about the people who work here.

Change at this scale takes people eager to learn new skills, solve unfamiliar challenges, work across teams and keep improving how clients are served.

That has been part of Quad’s story from the beginning.

Quad’s manufacturing foundation still shapes the way the company works. Print requires discipline, coordination, quality, timing and attention to detail. Those habits matter today as Quad helps clients manage more complex marketing challenges across more media channels and consumer touchpoints.

The work has expanded, but the operating muscle is familiar: bring the right people together, understand the problem, manage the details and keep creating a better way forward.

You can see that same pattern in the way people build careers here

Across Quad, employees have started in one area and moved into another. Look anywhere and you’ll find someone who entered through trainee or internship programs and built paths in HR, finance, supply chain or analytics. Some started on the manufacturing floor and grew into skilled technical roles or client management roles. Others built careers across creative, media, operations, sales or strategic growth.

At Quad, people who stay curious, build relationships and raise their hands can grow.

For candidates looking for their next job, that also means choosing the company. You are trying to understand whether the work has momentum, whether people are trusted to contribute, whether the company is adapting and whether there is room to grow and build a future there.

Quad’s 55-year story gives you a useful snapshot

This is a family-founded and family-led company with a long view. It is also a company that has had to keep changing. That is one of the clearest throughlines in Quad’s history: the future is created by people who decide to build it.

“We can’t let the future happen to us. That’s passive. You have to invent your future,” says Joel Quadracci, Chairman and CEO. “I tell our employees, ‘It’s in your hands. I’m not going to create that future. I’m going to help. But everyone going forward has to help create that future.’”

For some employees, that has meant learning new technical skills. For others, it has meant moving into leadership, joining a different part of the business, helping integrate new capabilities or finding better ways to serve clients. For many, it has meant doing work they never could have predicted when they first joined.

Quad is not a finished story. Fifty-five years in, the company is still being shaped by the people working here today and by the people who choose to join next.

If you are looking for a place with roots, momentum and room to contribute, now is a good time to see where you could fit into Quad’s future.
