Employee Spotlight: Colleen Leary, Health Center Manager

Portrait of Colleen Leary

A day in the life

In her role, Colleen’s days are dynamic and varied, balancing routine responsibilities with meetings and ongoing projects. She begins her day by reviewing messages and emails, checking in with her team, and handling administrative tasks such as approving time and updating reports. Her mornings often include team huddles, and she makes it a priority to connect with staff throughout the health center.

Colleen is currently involved in key initiatives such as supporting a continuous improvement rollout and working on problem-solving projects, while also collaborating on system processes. She works closely with her Medical Director, Health Center Supervisor, and leadership team, as well as partners across locations to ensure alignment.

Her favorite part of the day is engaging with her team and fostering those connections, along with opportunities to interact with patients, which she finds especially rewarding.

Career growth and development

Colleen joined the organization after being reconnected with the opportunity when the position became available again, ultimately accepting the role after being impressed by the care model. Over the past two years, she has grown within her position while expanding her skill set, particularly by gaining experience in wellness—an area that was new to her.

She has embraced learning opportunities and values the supportive environment, noting that colleagues are always willing to help one another. Colleen encourages new employees to enjoy their experience, stay open to learning, and not hesitate to reach out for support when needed.

Meaningful and challenging work

Colleen takes great pride in the strong culture and performance of her health center, particularly its success in a recent third-party audit and consistently high patient satisfaction. She is also proud of the Culture and Engagement Committee, which empowers employees to share ideas and foster a positive work environment.

Transitioning into a new healthcare model presented an initial challenge, but with support from her peers and team, she was able to adapt and grow in her role. Colleen focuses on problem-solving and removing barriers to help both staff and patients, making daily operations smoother and more effective.

She is motivated by her commitment to serving her health center and ensuring both employees and patients feel supported, valued, and cared for.

“The best part of my role is supporting my team and helping patients.”
