General Purpose of Job:
The Manager, Web Experience, Software Engineer is a strategic, hands-on leader responsible for the execution and advancement of web and application development across the Rise Web Development team. This role is a blend of technical oversight, team leadership, and cross-functional collaboration—ensuring the delivery of modern, scalable, and user-centered web experiences for our clients. The ideal candidate brings deep development expertise, a passion for emerging technologies, and a strong orientation toward coaching and scaling high-performing development teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own technical delivery of all web, ecommerce, and mobile solutions, ensuring excellence in execution, scalability, and on-time delivery.
- Lead and mentor a cross-functional development team across front-end, back-end, architecture, and DevOps disciplines.
- Partner closely with UX, PM, Media, and Analytics teams to shape holistic digital solutions that drive client performance and impact.
- Translate business goals and client requirements into technical roadmaps and scalable architectures.
- Support and evolve development standards, reusable code libraries, and automated workflows to increase velocity and quality.
- Lead technical discovery, platform selection, estimation, and architecture definition during early phases of client engagements.
- Promote collaboration between development and business analyst resources to ensure requirements are actionable, testable, and scalable.
- Provide architectural guidance across a range of technologies including CMS platforms (Kentico, Sitecore), ecommerce platforms (Shopify), front-end frameworks (React, Vue, Angular), and cloud services (AWS, Azure).
- Oversee CI/CD pipelines, version control, and automated testing infrastructure to improve quality and accelerate releases.
- Ensure technical performance and scalability of deployed applications, proactively managing risk, security, and site reliability.
- Help define talent needs, grow the development practice, and lead hiring, upskilling, and retention efforts.
- Contribute to the overall CX team vision, ensuring Development is integrated across strategy, design, and optimization workstreams.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline—or equivalent professional experience
Experience:
- 7+ years experience building highly-scalable interactive web applications.
- Demonstrated success managing full lifecycle web, ecommerce, and/or mobile development projects for high-profile clients.
- Strong background in building full-stack solutions using modern front-end frameworks (React, Angular, Vue.js) and back-end technologies (C#, Java, PHP).
- Expertise with CMS platforms such as Kentico, Sitecore, or similar enterprise-level systems.
- Experience with ecommerce platforms like Shopify and integrating third-party services and APIs.
- Proven track record of building scalable architectures, managing DevOps processes (CI/CD, automated testing, deployment pipelines), and maintaining production-level applications.
- Adept at working in both Agile and Waterfall environments, with a focus on team velocity, code quality, and delivery excellence.
- Familiarity with cloud services and infrastructure (Azure, AWS) and security best practices.
- Strong people management experience, including mentoring developers, conducting performance reviews, and scaling teams.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills with the ability to translate technical information into business value.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Relevant technical certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate, AWS Certified Developer, Kentico/Sitecore Developer certification)
- Scrum, Agile, or other project management/process certifications are a plus but not required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Deep knowledge of full stack development, object-oriented programming, and microservices architecture.
- Ability to make architectural decisions based on performance, scalability, and user experience needs.
- Experience working collaboratively in a matrixed environment with product, design, analytics, and media teams.
- Strong project scoping, time estimation, and resource planning capabilities.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team—filling gaps, unblocking obstacles, and ensuring smooth project delivery.
- Passionate about continuous learning, emerging technology, and building future-forward digital experiences.
- Familiar with accessibility standards and inclusive design principles.
- Strong understanding of agile product development life cycles and iterative design.
- Experience working with tools like Figma, Jira, GitHub, SharePoint, Azure DevOps, and similar platforms.
