Quad's Spartanburg facility is seeking an experienced Tooling Die Designer/ Die Maker to join our 2nd shift team. In this role, you will be responsible for ruling, rubbing, and repairing dies to ensure high-quality tooling that meets customer specifications. This position collaborates closely with our Design and Die Cutting teams to ensure efficient and precise manufacturing. 

Shift Details

  • 2nd shift:  M-F, 2:00 PM - 10 PM
  • Occasional overtime based on business needs

Compensation

  • Hourly Rate $24.00 - $31.00
  • Final Offer based on experience and skill level
  • Overtime eligible

About Our Spartanburg, SC Facility

Our 82,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art packaging plant serves clients in the medical, pharmaceutical, and well-known liquor and tobacco industries. We operate sheetfed offset and narrow web flexo presses, along with die cutting and custom folding/gluing, supported by advanced inline quality control systems.

The facility is bright, climate-controlled, exceptionally clean, and known for its friendly, team-oriented culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure accuracy and precision of all cutting dies. 
  • Verify correct rule, perf, and crease per customer specifications. 
  • Manage die-making supplies and inventory. 
  • Maintain a clean work area and perform basic maintenance on die-making equipment. 
  • Provide technical support to internal teams as needed. 
  • Collaborate with the Design and Die Cutting departments to improve tooling processes and outcomes. 

Job Requirements

Appropriate education and/or experience may be considered on an equivalent basis. 

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required. 

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of die-making experience; consumer packaging industry preferred. 
  • Previous experience in paperboard carton production required. 
  • Experience working with AutoCAD files and interpreting customer specifications is required. 
  • Knowledge of Bobst Die Cutters preferred. 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong initiative and ability to work independently. 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. 
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Ability to perform basic math functions. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
