Epic Application Analyst, Clinical
ApplyQuadMed is looking for a Clinical Epic Application Analyst to join our team. This is a remote role with on call requirements 3-4 days a month.
GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB
The Clinical Systems Analyst III (CSA III) functions as the support contact and expert for their assigned Epic applications. This team member works under the direction of the Clinical Systems Analyst Lead to configure, build and install the application. The CSA III coordinates all issues that arise during the application build phase. Key operational activities include primary responsibility for analyzing workflows and understanding policies, procedures, and constraints of the clinical or business operations supported by the application. Investigation and documentation of operational specifications and application functionality is required. Key technical activities include the analysis of new releases to determine how workflow should be modified, building and populating databases and tables during initial system configuration, conducting system testing and conversion data validation in collaboration with Clinic Operations. Develops and documents internal procedures and establishes change control processes for the application.
The CSA III functions as a contact to troubleshoot problems and questions from end-users. This individual must be a skilled communicator who makes decisions independently and in collaboration with others. Attention to detail is a critical skill for this position.
This team member helps end-user departments in the design, and implementation of new applications, systems, enhancements, and required maintenance. Other responsibilities are to participate in the design, coding, testing, and documentation of new or existing applications.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyzes business and user requirements and collaborate with teams to design and build technology or process solutions which automate or improve the EMR system to support business strategies.
- Supports the Epic application by guiding the solution design, training resources, and supporting processes to ensure the successful engagement and sustainment of the solution while considering associated workflows and how the application(s) integrate with the clinical environments.
- Communicates effectively with coworkers, users, vendors, and leadership by actively listening, respectful correspondence and discussions and timely follow up.
- Produces quality deliverables throughout the change lifecycle, demonstrated by design session deliverables, knowledgeable build activities, essential testing functions, and comprehensive implementation methodology.
- Supports and maintains the EMR by working with the IT Helpdesk and vendor in analyzing current issues and resolving through short term corrective action, root cause analysis, permanent corrective action process.
- Works with Reporting team to ensure proper system design to facilitate data capture. (i.e., Informatics / Data Integrity)
- Supports EMR related projects in the role of system subject matter expert regarding the system in question.
- Assists in change management related to systems including reviewing release notes, coordinating system upgrades, and working with the Training Department.
- Promotes teamwork, stewardship, and accountability throughout the department.
- Participates in vendor demos, site visits, and system health checks.
- Recommends and designs technology solutions to business problems.
- Utilizes online resources to learn about new functionality; how to implement/troubleshoot functionality.
- Participates in meetings with vendors to troubleshoot Electronic Health Record issues and to gather requirements/recommendations for functionality.
- Participates in or leads projects with minimal direction from CS Lead, Sr. CS Analyst or Operations.
- Creates, reviews, and executes system wide test plans.
- Evaluates new releases of the Electronic Health Record System and recommends which new features to implement.
- Tests new releases of the system, this includes pre and post upgrade testing and informing about system changes.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, multitask, prioritize, adapt to change, attention to detail.
- Continuously helps to improve the organization’s products and processes.
- Troubleshoot problems and address questions from users and provide on-call support on a rotating basis.
- Document build specifications, team processes and clinic workflows.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
Experience:
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience in IT in a healthcare organization required
- Minimum four (4) years’ experience as an Analyst in Epic applications required
- Clinic back-office workflow experience preferred
- Clinic front office workflow experience preferred
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Must be certified in at least one of the following Epic applications: EpicCare Ambulatory, MyChart
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Experience with design, build and configuration of an EMR environment
- Experience with design, build and configuration of Epic applications
- Experience with appointment scheduling and registration workflows in a healthcare setting
- Broad knowledge of and experience with practice management applications and their interdependencies
- Experience with multi-facility design, planning and coordination of IS systems
- Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare business
- General knowledge of project management
- Demonstrated business analysis skills and experience
- Strong time management skills and ability to work on multiple projects at once
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills across multiple disciplines
- Demonstrated customer service and collaboration skills working with end users
- Proven ability to work effectively with diverse populations and a demonstrated commitment to fostering inclusion.
