GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB
The Sr Premedia Production Artist is responsible for creating print-ready files with utilizing the highest production quality standards, exceeding client expectations, mentor Asst Premedia Production Artists and work/meet with clients within a fast-paced environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES SCOPE
- Create print-ready layouts from client, art director and/or writer provided files
- Assemble all elements of documents, ensuring quality typography
- Proper color breaks, trapping (when necessary)
- Graphics placement and photo requirements (resolution, ink limit)
- Appropriate print specifications resulting in technically accurate final deliverable files
- Render logos and artwork to meet print-ready end deliverable specifications
- General knowledge of the workflows and procedures for the assigned area
- Understanding of Mac environment
- Read and follow internal markup and customer instructions
- Work collaboratively, creatively and open-mindedly with project managers and/or art
- Promptly notify the appropriate people of challenges affecting quality, schedule or budgets
- Discuss different approaches and methods to achieve individual and departmental goals
- Continually review current production processes for efficiencies for improvements/changes
- Provide clear and concise written and/or verbal instructions to other team members
- Work/meet with clients to maximize efficiencies on their projects
- Mentor Asst PreMedia Production Artists and meet with them twice monthly to ensure progress
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Appropriate education and/or experience may be substituted on an equivalent basis
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience: 7+ years industry experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Mastery of creating and working with templates and style sheets; including page formatting of copy, placing photos and artwork; producing multiple versions
- Mastery of Macintosh-based Quark, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat
- Mastery of steps required for the print process and an understanding of production methods to ensure designs can be produced for print delivery
- Strong communication skills – verbal and written
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Manual Dexterity: Work requires definite skilled and accurate physical operations requiring some closely coordinated performance.
Physical Effort: Work requires handling light weight materials or equipment with no special speed or exertion.
Working Conditions: Ordinary office, shop, field, or warehouse working conditions with some slightly disagreeable features.
Hazards: Negligible. Little or no exposure to hazards.
