VP Client Strategy

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

SCOPE

Overall Mission:  Strategically align consumer-centric approaches across Quad, Rise, and Betty that benefit and fulfill our clients’ goals, while leveraging Quad’s unique data, services, and people where appropriate.

  • Plan & Strategize; existing clients
    • Provide strategic guidance to clients; anticipate and address client needs and challenges; plan and develop integrated programs that exceed client objectives
    • Champion and lead the strategic planning and ideation for select clients that position Quad as consultants to our client’s business
    • Assist in the migration from print/manufacturing/digital-only and procurement relationships to more marketing leadership relationships
    • Be a master of understanding client needs/pain opportunities in terms of driving better business outcomes that improve marketing performance and fuel growth
  • Plan & Strategize; helping team win new business
    • Identify priority prospects/clients to “elevate” the current strategy
    • Collaborate with Business and Client Development leadership to align on priority growth opportunities and specific needs to drive better performance
  • Contribute to Integration & Implementation Planning
  • Serve as a specialist and SME in integration, combining expertise in identifying needs and opportunities, with a foundational understanding of audience/data, content/creative, multichannel integration and execution, performance measurement and all things direct marketing.
  • Devise actionable implementation recommendations anticipating key challenges
    • Provide internal and external teams/clients with the ability to see and enact integrations at a consumer/customer level regardless of channel
    • Focus reporting and analytic needs around how Quad and clients can show the outcomes related to campaigns, product growth, and business results, regardless of channel
    • Upon client agreement and alignment with a proposed strategy, work with the Integrated Account team to successfully migrate the strategy to action
    • Role model and train Quad team members about enacting and living a client-first approach that is focused on their customers; creating a sense of responsibility and accountability across the organization for the clients’ success.
  • Collaborate with and Educate Sales & Marketing
  • Collaborate with Quad leadership to improve current strat/account planning to refine and/or develop net new strategies for prospective or existing clients
  • Build strong and influential working relationships within and across internal teams; be a catalyst for better ideas; bring people and disciplines together to create the best work. 
  • Work to bridge any gap(s) between business objectives and marketing/MarCom strategy
  • Help guide insight generation around integrated marketing communications strategy, strategic POVs and go-to market plan ideation/recommendations
  • Continuously educate the sales team to improve in key behaviors and skills, as well as observation of and/or participation in sales meetings
  • Bring New Ideas and Thought Leadership
    • Develop and deliver thought leadership pieces to aid in building the agency’s profile externally
    • Solve for big business problems; question, inspire, integrate and above all, lead.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Appropriate education and/or experience may be substituted on an equivalent basis

  • Deep experience in leading integrated marketing strategies with expertise across all aspects – foundational brand strategy, marketing communications planning, content/creative, social and digital
  • A demonstrated experience motivating clients, teams or other strategists to approach solving marketing challenges in new ways
  • Fluency and comfort level working with multiple agency disciplines including media, social, content, UX, analytics and technology
  • Display a thorough understanding of assigned target industries and Quad's competitive advantages
  • A natural and creative problem solver who can assess the landscape and conceptualize solutions to meet client business objectives
  • Proven track record in designing and participating in the delivery of complex marketing technology involving both database and interactive technologies
  • Skilled at writing and socializing product-level documents: marketing plan, sales enablement plan, launch plan, solution handbook 
  • Successful track-record of cross-functional collaboration with teams, contributors, and stakeholders across multiple seniority levels 
  • Data-driven and results-oriented, with a perspective on how to measure and evaluate metrics for pre and post campaign launch, and define and measure metrics to measure the impact of marketing efforts 
  • Ability to rapidly prioritize and react to changing business needs and external market dynamic
  • Strong experience with the online/offline marketing ecosystem and understanding of the technologies that enable them
  • Support sales training and industry events.
  • Hands-on experience with platform delivery, data strategy, campaign planning and data activation
  • Ability to translate complex topics into easily understandable verbal and written communications, including translating business objectives and opportunity identification
  • A unique blend of business and technical savvy with an ability to effectively influence a desired outcome, and the wherewithal to make that vision a reality
  • Ability to handle multiple prospects/clients/opportunities simultaneously and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to establish trust and build relationships with internal and external clients and partners, at various seniority levels
  • Self-motivated, determined, and adaptable, with a sense of ownership to resolve challenges that arise
  • A successful track record of selling enterprise solutions to executive stakeholders
  • Ability and willingness to travel (once it is safe to resume) up to 50% domestically or internationally, only as needed
  • Strategic thinker with proven consulting skills with a strong eye for detail
  • Self-motivated and results-driven team player who consistently strives to exceed goals and push revenue expectations
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new situations and remain flexible

Education: Bachelor’s preferred
