GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB
The Estimator is responsible for engineering the best market-competitive offer by interpreting the revenue opportunities in partnership with Sales. The Estimators work with other departments (Deal Review Group, Scheduling, Press, Finishing, Paper, Distribution, Postal Solutions, etc) to develop the most efficient, competitive and profitable solutions for existing and potential clients in order to secure new or renewal business.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design an offer to maximize cross platform profitability through in-depth knowledge of internal platform and external marketplace.
- Develop and independently determine strategic pricing based on fit, schedule availability/seasonality, current market conditions, market verticals & capacity considerations.
- Interpret and translate customer's business model and print campaign including the purpose of each product in order to utilize in-depth knowledge of competitor’s strengths and weaknesses; to recommend solutions to differentiate and leverage our platform and secure new business (revenue).
- Identify value added services that enhance existing marketing strategies for increased profitability.
- Develop market competitive estimates to meet Sales and Customer needs while striving to optimize profitability for the organization. (Example, set lower rates for sensitive components of the pricing and increase pricing in other areas where customer is not so sensitive that still achieve profitable business for Quad)
- Design price schedules/pricing grids/rate cards in our integrated systems so that pricing information can be leverage by the sales and billing teams. Update, revise, and clean-up price schedules/pricing grids/rate cards as needed for escalations, materials increases, automated billing issues, etc.
- Independently analyze job cost recovery and provide guidance on where/how to be more competitive; including, analyzing run plans identify ways to financially incent more efficient run plans on equipment
- Serve as subject matter expert to Sales & Customers to ensure client satisfaction.
- Meets with Leaders/Managers/Directors to discuss strategic direction of pricing & production plan for projects.
- Act as lead to sales and billing teams seeking to understand the pricing offered and how to sell the invoice accordingly.
- Independently responsible for continuous improvement of sale/estimate success ratios, profitability/productivity of products, accuracy and timeliness.
- Train new hires and/or Trainees.
- Review and evaluate work performed by new hires and/or Trainees prior to hand-off to Sales.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Appropriate education and/or experience may be substituted on an equivalent basis
Education: Bachelor’s degree in BA or BS
Experience: Minimum of two years of print or estimating experience
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: N/A
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Strong math, computer and analytical skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work quickly and accurately and meet deadlines under pressure
Ability to communicate clearly and develop professional relationship with other departments
Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks in a fast paced work environment
