Quad, a global leader in the commercial printing and direct marketing industry is seeking a Digital Press Operator to work in our rapidly expanding East Coast Supercenter in Westampton, NJ.

In this position, you will assist in the creation of various well-known Direct Mail pieces and other related products.  Quad prides itself on having a “grow from within” philosophy where employees are provided the opportunity to learn in their roles and grow within the company.

The Digital Press Master Operator will run the HP T250 narrow web digital press and is responsible for the set-up, and operation of the digital press and related equipment. The operator ensures the highest quality product is produced at the lowest possible cost while meeting or exceeding customer requirements and following company policies and procedures. This Master operator position also includes responsibilities of maintaining the press and performing PMs as needed. The competitive wage range will depend on the candidates experience and skill set level. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • General knowledge of computers consisting of knowing Microsoft Office programs
  • Knowledge of the manufacturing processes, procedures, and machinery
  • Ability to learn and comprehend computer programs associated with the running of the department and shift.
  • Ability to provide clear directions and instructions to others.
  • Reads and understands job tickets to guarantee the correct product is produced to quality standards and specifications.
  • Identifies and selects correct substrates used for the specific jobs.
  • Makes decisions regarding quality, color control, and color standards.
  • Works closely with Customer Service, Managers, and operators as a team to ensure quality output.
  • Completes quality checks and tests to ensure the product meets all physical and visual requirements.
  • Monitor production throughout the run, adjusting to reduce waste, and increase productivity.
  • Maintains equipment by following operation procedures, making minor adjustments. Responsible for troubleshooting equipment, completing basic repairs, as well as preventive maintenance.
  • Directs the activities of the crew to maintain and control productivity, while at the same time assists other crews.  Provides training to other operators both on and off the crew.
  • Reviews job specifications to ensure thorough understanding. Completes appropriate paperwork and reports time and materials consumption accurately.     
  • Communicates issues effectively to the leadership group and with others on the following shift.
  • Ability to rip PDF files to press using hot folders. 
  • Operates material handling equipment to move loads in and out of the work area.
  • Communicate job-specific information to internal customers.
  • Assists in developing the department’s Standard Operational Procedures
  • Track and inventory all consumables.
  • Complete necessary paperwork and records
  • Ability to order materials using the computer software request system. 
  • Maintain a clean orderly work area.
  • Follows all Safety Procedures
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or required.
  • Able to lift 40 pounds.
  • Must be willing to work overtime, when required including weekends.
  • The ability to work a 12 hours shift, 7 am - 7 pm, 3 to 4  12, hour days a week with opportunities for overtime (OT paid after 40 hours per week). 

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years of printing experience related to Digital, or Offset Printing
  • HP T250 Operator training Certification is a plus but not required. 
  • Experience and a solid understanding of four-color process printing, able to make color adjustments as needed.
  • Able to mechanically trouble shoot to find the root cause of a press breakdown.
  • Able to perform Preventative Maintenance on press equipment. 
  • Able to communicate effectively and professionally with both internal and external customers.
  • Able to communicate clearly both verbally and in written form.
  • Able to work extra hours required to meet time-sensitive deadlines when necessary and travel to off-site training when needed.
