Quad's investment serves as a catalyst
Learn more about Quad's pivotal role in rejuvenating Melvina Park and igniting a sense of community spirit and growth.
In May 2023, Quad unveiled a $500,000 commitment over three years to transform and expand Melvina Park in Milwaukee’s Century City Triangle neighborhood. This initiative expands on Quad’s ongoing community investments, which include job skills training and family-sustaining careers through the company’s recruiting and training hub Quad MKE, which opened in the Century City Tower in the fall of 2022.
This revitalization effort, a collaboration between the City of Milwaukee, the Burke Foundation and Quad, will expand Melvina Park from one to nearly four acres by incorporating an adjacent vacant lot. The $2.3 million transformation is part of a larger effort to revitalize the 30th Street Industrial Corridor, a once-thriving manufacturing hub that has faced challenges in recent years, including high unemployment.
“This is the first substantial redevelopment or improvement made to this park since the mid-1990s,” says Brandon Ramey, Site Director for Quad MKE. “That means it’s been almost 30 years since this park has seen any investment at this level.” With Quad’s support, Melvina Park will offer nature-based play areas, a multipurpose athletic field, a basketball court, additional bicycle pathways, a dog park and an event space for community gatherings.
Quad’s financial commitment to Melvina Park expands our long-standing commitment to local communities. “Quad has always had this focus on community and investing in the communities that its employees live and work in,” Ramey says. “Listening to the community and helping to create a better way has been foundational to Quad.” Quad’s investment in the Century City Triangle community, Ramey adds, is a tangible representation of Quad’s core value of “Believe in People.” “When we talk about investments like Melvina Park, I think about the moments and the memories that will be made there — the basketball tournaments, the birthday parties and everything else,” says Ramey. “This is about believing in and investing in people.”
