GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB
The primary role of the Digital Asset Manager is to manage department tasks, workflows and decisions surrounding the ingestion, annotation, metadata, cataloguing, storage, retrieval and distribution of digital assets for multiple purposes while maintaining brand consistency. The (DAM) Manager will also develop protocol for downloading, renaming, backing up, rating, grouping, archiving, optimizing, maintaining and exporting files. Digital Assets consist of, but are not limited to, image and video files.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Receives and supplies receipt acknowledgement of internal, client, vendor or third party supplied assets.
- Compares assets to accepted published standards for inclusion in Client and/or Quad databases.
- Enters metadata and product data that pertains to the image and product depicted in the asset.
- Help maintain and plan complex workflow to support onsite and offsite needs including access by clients.
- Manages asset requests from clients. Maintains lists of assets requested by client and the status of the fulfillment of that request. Reviews reports of asset searches in order to anticipate an asset request.
- Organizes assets within the databases based on criteria established for each client.
- Ensure all digital assets meet internal and client specifications before final delivery.
- Purges old or out of contract images from the image databases.
- Requests product data from client to complete image data record.
- Coordinates and manages multiple projects simultaneously.
- Tracks and reports daily / weekly on status of image assets in excel and proprietary client systems.
- Works with IT to determine improvements needed in database and database interfaces.
- Add files and metadata to a central repository.
- Comment, collaborate and/or make notes on assets to determine and control uses and promote an asset’s ability to be repurposed effectively. Create keyword hierarchies so assets can be located quickly.
- Index and classify assets in a number of ways in which they can be controlled and easily retrieved by approved users to use for appropriate communications.
- Preserve the integrity of the digital file and its metadata for the lifetime of an asset so that it can be controlled, versioned, repurposed and archived according to administrative direction.
- Search, find, access and/or deliver assets in the proper file formats (often involving file transformation services) so that the asset(s) may be used according to the intended and/or permitted uses.
- Coordination of retouching images
- Back up images
- Send out equipment for repairs when needed
- Ordering of supplies
- Other duties as assigned by manager
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Appropriate education and/or experience may be substituted on an equivalent basis
Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in print production
Experience: 5+ years of relevant experience
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: N/A
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office software – specifically Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint
- Working knowledge and experience with CaptureOne, Adobe Photoshop, Bridge, Acrobat.
- Understanding of printing and pre-press specifications
- Work well with others, including internal staff and external audiences (clients and prospects)
- Exceptional listening skills to properly assess the needs of our clients\
